Get you up to speed: Six flights including two from UK grounded by bomb threats across Europe | News World
Two flights from the UK were evacuated following bomb threats involving six planes across Europe. A Ryanair flight from Manchester landed at Murcia Airport and was inspected after a bomb threat, and a Polish Airlines flight from Heathrow was diverted to Warsaw-Modlin Airport where passengers were evacuated without finding any suspicious items.
Authorities at Warsaw-Modlin Airport confirmed the runway was closed until 1pm local time while bomb disposal teams inspected the Polish Airlines flight. The Government Delegate for the Region stated that inspection protocols were activated following the bomb threat, which caused the aircraft to be routed to a designated area for further evaluation.
The Government Delegate for the Region, Francisco Lucas, confirmed that the evacuation of the Ryanair flight was due to a “bomb threat,” stating that the aircraft is currently being inspected. Warsaw-Modlin Airport remains closed until 1pm local time as authorities, including bomb disposal teams, assess the situation following the emergency landing of the Polish Airlines flight.
What remains unclear — It is not known why multiple flights across Europe received bomb threats concurrently.
